Chestnut House – Ewshot

Chestnut Cottage was reimaged and extended for the growing Stoddart family. The house began as a tired 3 bedroom 1960’s house. We doubled the footprint with a SIP’s (structurally insulated panels) extension and designed the new exterior aesthetic with grey render and sustainable Kebony timber cladding. Extensive internal reconfiguration created what we think is a perfect family house.

The extension creates an L shaped floor plan, cutting the plot in two and creating a cosy enclosed courtyard as well as a larger side garden. The expansive open plan area benefits from ceilings as high as 3m by lowering the ground slab and stepping up the master suite floor above, creating interest in the ceiling and utilising the vaulted ceiling made possible by the SIPS construction.
