Sun Acre – Farnham
This project reimagined a dated 1960s three bedroom house with a poor layout, transforming it into a spacious, modern five bedroom, three bathroom home. A key challenge was that the family needed to remain living in the house during construction, so the extension was designed to function independently from the main residence.
To create a seamless connection with the rear garden, the ground floor of the extension was built at a lower level. This not only enhances the indoor / outdoor flow for entertaining but also allows for impressive ceiling heights within the open-plan space. The kitchen features custom plywood units and a polished concrete floor, celebrating the raw beauty of natural materials. Externally, the extension is clad in pre-weathered larch, giving it a contemporary yet timeless appeal.
A striking two-storey ‘porch’ links the new addition to the original structure, creating a bold and inviting entrance.
